Miami HurricanesvsStanford Cardinal
MIA 45/STAN 6
Things to say
Miami beat Stanford 45-6 at Stanford Stadium.
01
opener
Yeah, Miami just walked into Stanford and took the doors off. 45-6, and it wasn't even that close. Stanford couldn't move the ball all night.
02
key player
Darian Mensah was surgical — 27 of 30 for 401 and five touchdowns. You basically can't play quarterback better than that.
03
hot take
Everybody's gonna talk about Mensah, but Stanford's defense just quit. You don't give up six passing scores by accident.
04
deep cut
Malachi Toney had 12 catches for 234 and three scores by himself. One guy outgained Stanford's whole passing game.
05
exit
Anyway, Miami's for real this year — I wanna see them against somebody who can actually hit back.
The recap
Miami walked into Stanford Stadium and turned it into a track meet, hanging 45 on the Cardinal and never breaking a sweat. Darian Mensah was surgical, going 27-of-30 for 401 and five touchdowns, and Malachi Toney was flat-out uncoverable with 234 yards and three scores of his own.
Stanford couldn't move the ball outside of a couple of field goals and were buried by halftime once Mensah started picking them apart. This one was over early — Miami covered easily and cashed the over all by themselves.
