Mississippi Valley State Delta DevilsvsSacramento State Hornets
MVSU 0/SAC 52
Things to say
Sacramento State shut out Mississippi Valley State 52-0 at Hornet Stadium.
01
opener
Yeah, that one was over by halftime. Sac State just hung 52 on them and pitched a shutout. Never close.
02
key player
Matt Coleman was the guy — 6 catches, 141 yards, three touchdowns. When your receiver's got a hat trick, you know it's a long night for the other side.
03
hot take
Honestly a shutout says more about MVSU than Sac State. You can't score zero and blame the other guys — they just couldn't move the ball at all.
04
deep cut
MVSU threw for 24 yards. Twenty-four. Their leading rusher had more than that on three carries. The line of scrimmage belonged to Sac State all game.
05
exit
Sharman had four touchdown passes, so the offense looks legit. We'll see if it holds up when the schedule actually toughens up.
The recap
Sacramento State ran Mississippi Valley State off their own field, 52-0, and it was never remotely close. Jackson Sharman was surgical, carving up the defense for 247 yards and four touchdowns, three of which went to Matt Coleman, who finished with 141 yards and turned a 63-yard bomb into a highlight reel.
MVSU simply couldn't move the ball, managing next to nothing through the air while the Hornets kept pouring it on into the fourth. This was a smashmouth beatdown from the opening whistle to the final Daniel Swinney score.
