Murray State RacersvsMiddle Tennessee Blue Raiders
MUR 14/MTSU 38
Things to say
Middle Tennessee beat Murray State 38-14 at home to open the season 1-0.
01
opener
MTSU handled Murray State 38-14, never really in doubt. Blue Raiders jumped out 14-0 and just kept their foot on the gas. Murray State couldn't move the ball when it mattered.
02
key player
Roman Gagliano was surgical — 20 of 26 for 200 and two scores, plus a 22-yard touchdown run. That's an efficient day, no wasted throws.
03
hot take
Honestly the score flatters Murray State. That late fumble return for six was the dagger, and they were getting bailed out by garbage time.
04
deep cut
Cam'ron Lacy quietly went for 118 on eight catches, and Antonio Martin cracked 100 on the ground too. When you're that balanced, you're tough to stop.
05
exit
Racers drop to 0-2, so it's not getting easier for them. Anyway — curious to see if MTSU's for real once the schedule stiffens up.
The recap
Middle Tennessee jumped Murray State early and never let go, riding Roman Gagliano to a comfortable 38-14 win. Gagliano was surgical — 20-of-26 for 200 and two scores through the air, plus a 22-yard keeper of his own — while Cam'ron Lacy racked up 118 yards and a touchdown to keep the chains moving.
Murray State's only real punch was Tyrell Campbell breaking off a 46-yard sprint, but they couldn't sustain anything and fell behind 24-7. Kalen Woods slammed the door with a 39-yard fumble return for six, turning a solid win into a laugher and dropping the Racers to 0-2.
