Washington NationalsvsLos Angeles Dodgers
WSH 3/LAD 5
Things to say
The Dodgers beat the Nationals 5-3 at home to move to 84-57.
01
opener
Dodgers took care of business, 5-3 over Washington. Nothing flashy, they just kept the line moving and let the pen slam the door. Getaway-day baseball, LA does what LA does.
02
key player
Heart of the order carried it for the Dodgers again. Couple of hard-hit balls, one of them left the yard, and honestly that swing looks locked in right now.
03
hot take
Say what you want, but the Nats at 67-76 hung around way longer than that record says. They're not a 3-run-loss team on paper, LA just has more bullets.
04
deep cut
The quiet tell was the middle innings. Washington had guys on and the LA manager didn't blink, didn't go to the pen too early, and that patience is the whole ballgame.
05
exit
Anyway, Dodgers are cruising into October. Ask me again when they hit a real playoff arm.
The recap
The Dodgers took care of business at home, holding off the Nationals 5-3 to keep their grip on the division race. Washington hung around and made it interesting, but LA's bats did just enough and the bullpen slammed the door late.
No fireworks, just a steady win that pushes the Dodgers to 84-57. The Nats drop another one and keep sliding under .500 at 67-76.
