Washington NationalsvsMiami Marlins
WSH 2/MIA 4
Things to say
The Marlins beat the Nationals 4-2 at home in Miami.
01
opener
Marlins took it 4-2 at home. Low-scoring, tight all night. Miami's arms did the job when it mattered.
02
key player
Whoever anchored that Marlins rotation earned the W — held Washington to two and kept the heart of their order quiet. That's your standout.
03
hot take
Nationals are just not scoring enough. Two runs isn't beating anybody down the stretch.
04
deep cut
It's a getaway-type game and Miami's bullpen didn't blow it for once. That's the quiet win here.
05
exit
Marlins are hanging around .500 too — sneaky. Anyway, let's see if they carry it into the next one.
The recap
Miami took care of business at home, holding off Washington 4-2 to snap out of the mud and creep back toward .500 at 66-64. This one had a pitcher's-duel feel most of the night before the Fish scratched across just enough to nose in front and never gave the lead back.
The bullpen slammed the door late, and the Nats couldn't get the heart of the order going when it mattered. Getaway-day baseball, but Miami will take the two runs of separation and the W.
