Washington NationalsvsMiami Marlins
WSH 2/MIA 6
Things to say
The Miami Marlins beat the Washington Nationals 6-2 at loanDepot park.
01
opener
Marlins took it 6-2 at home. Miami's bats woke up early and Washington never really answered. Getaway day and the Fish just kind of coasted.
02
key player
The heart of that Miami order did the damage—six runs isn't a fluke, somebody in the middle left the yard and drove the traffic in.
03
hot take
Nationals are just playing out the string at 61-71. Two runs on a day game tells you everything about where that lineup's at right now.
04
deep cut
Watch the Marlins bullpen—67-64 and hanging around the fringe of it because they're not blowing these late. Held Washington to two the whole way.
05
exit
Anyway, Miami's actually kind of frisky down the stretch—curious if they can stay in the mix. Catch you at the next one.
The recap
Miami took care of business at home, riding a 6-2 win over Washington on a getaway day at loanDepot park. The Marlins bats did the damage against a Nationals staff that couldn't keep the heart of the order quiet, and once they built the lead the bullpen slammed the door.
Washington never really threatened, managing just two runs and letting this one slip away early. Clean, comfortable Saturday afternoon work for Miami, who inch closer to .500 at 67-64.
