Washington NationalsvsTexas Rangers
WSH 0/TEX 2
Things to say
The Rangers blanked the Nationals 2-0 at Globe Life Field.
01
opener
Rangers took it 2-0, real quiet game. Classic pitchers' duel, nobody could string anything together. Kind of a getaway-day grind.
02
key player
Texas arm was filthy tonight, got into his stuff early and just carved. Washington's bats never touched him.
03
hot take
Two runs shouldn't be enough to win a ballgame, but the Nats' offense has been a black hole all month.
04
deep cut
Nats got runners on and still put up a zero. When you can't cash in with the heart of the order up, that's the whole story.
05
exit
Anyway, both these clubs are playing out the string. Curious if Washington bounces back tomorrow or just mails it in.
The recap
Rangers grabbed a getaway-day shutout, riding pitching to a tidy 2-0 win over the Nationals at Globe Life. The staff kept Washington's bats quiet all night, spinning zeros and never letting the heart of the order do any damage.
Two runs was all Texas needed, and the bullpen slammed the door to make it stand up. Not a lot of fireworks, but that's a clean, efficient night's work at home.
