New Hampshire WildcatsvsSyracuse Orange

UNH 3/SYR 66

ACC Network/ACCNXJMA Wireless Dome
Things to say

Syracuse dominated New Hampshire 66-3 at the Dome to open the season 1-0.

01
opener
Yeah, that one was over by the first quarter. Syracuse hung 66 on New Hampshire and the Wildcats managed a field goal. Total smashmouth beatdown.
02
key player
Steve Angeli was surgical. 20-of-29, 263 and three touchdowns, and he barely broke a sweat before they pulled him.
03
hot take
Honestly hard to learn anything from this. You beat an FCS team by 63, you were supposed to. Real test is still coming.
04
deep cut
Shavane Anderson Jr. went for 102 and three scores on ten carries, and they still had a fumble return touchdown and a safety. Defense scored too.
05
exit
Anyway, tune-up game. The schedule gets real in a couple weeks, that's when we'll know what this team actually is.
The recap

This was a clinic and a mismatch from the jump — Syracuse hung 66 on New Hampshire and the Wildcats never came close to answering. Steve Angeli carved them up for 263 and three scores, Shavane Anderson Jr. bruised his way to 102 and three more on the ground, and Umari Hatcher torched the secondary for 147 and a pair.

New Hampshire couldn't move the ball at all, managing a lone field goal while the defense kept coughing it up — a safety and a fumble returned for six just piled on. By the time the backups were in, this was garbage time with a running clock and a 63-point gap.
