New Mexico State AggiesvsFlorida State Seminoles
NMSU 17/FSU 34
Things to say
Florida State beat New Mexico State 34-17 at Doak Campbell Stadium.
01
opener
FSU handled their business, 34-17. Never really in doubt once the ground game got going. Kromah was a load all night.
02
key player
Ousmane Kromah ran for 115 on 14 carries and a score. Kid runs downhill and he's the real deal.
03
hot take
Daniels threw a pick and only 202 through the air. They won on the ground, not because of him.
04
deep cut
Singleton scored two different ways, caught one and punched one in on the ground. Nice little wrinkle.
05
exit
Cupcake opener though. We'll learn a lot more when the schedule actually toughens up.
The recap
Florida State opened the season by pulling away from New Mexico State 34-17, and it was the ground game that carried it — Ousmane Kromah bulldozed for 115 yards and stamped it with a fourth-quarter touchdown. New Mexico State actually hung tough into the second half and cut it to ten, but every time they clawed back, FSU had an answer.
Ashton Daniels was steady and efficient through the air, and Samuel Singleton Jr. did his damage two ways, catching a score and running one in. Trey Hedden's 272 yards and two touchdowns look nice, but a lot of that was chasing the game once the Seminoles took control.
