Nicholls ColonelsvsKansas State Wildcats
NICH 3/KSU 71
Things to say
Kansas State throttled Nicholls 71-3 at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.
01
opener
Yeah, that one was over by the first quarter. K-State just steamrolled Nicholls 71-3. Total smashmouth, they scored on basically every drive.
02
key player
Avery Johnson was surgical — 15 of 21 for 199 and three touchdowns. Didn't even need to play the second half.
03
hot take
Honestly a 71-3 game tells you nothing. Nicholls is an FCS school, that's a glorified scrimmage.
04
deep cut
Loved the depth chart flex late — Jacob Knuth punching in a rushing score in garbage time. Even the backups were eating.
05
exit
The real test is next week when they line up against somebody with a pulse. We'll see who they actually are then.
The recap
This wasn't a game, it was a batting practice. Kansas State hung 71 on Nicholls and the Colonels' only points came on a first-half field goal — they couldn't move the ball all night, managing a grand total of 30 passing yards.
Avery Johnson barely broke a sweat, going 15-of-21 for 199 and three scores before the backups piled on, while Rodney Fields Jr. bulldozed his way to 101 on the ground. By the end the Wildcats were emptying the bench and still finding the end zone.
