Nottingham ForestvsLiverpool
NFO 2/LIV 2
Things to say
Liverpool and Nottingham Forest played to a 2-2 draw at Anfield.
01
opener
Liverpool let this one slip at home. Had it in hand and still walked away with a 2-2 draw. Two games in, they haven't won yet.
02
key player
Van Dijk was everywhere in the back, 101 accurate passes on the day. When your center back is running the whole thing, that tells you something.
03
hot take
A draw at Anfield against Forest? That's two points dropped, not one earned. Liverpool should be putting this game away.
04
deep cut
Forest's Milenkovic had 14 defensive interventions. That's the guy who kept them in it, throwing his body around all afternoon.
05
exit
Long season though. Liverpool will be fine once they figure out how to close, we'll see it next weekend.
The recap
Anfield expected three points and instead got a scare, with Liverpool and Nottingham Forest splitting the points 2-2. Forest, sitting comfortably as the visitors, refused to fold and matched Liverpool goal for goal to walk out with a hard-earned draw.
Van Dijk ran the show in the back with a ridiculous 101 accurate passes, but the defense couldn't lock things down when it mattered. The real gut-punch is in the standings: two games in and Liverpool still hasn't won, which is not the start anybody at Anfield had in mind.
