New York City FCvsNashville SC
NYC 1/NSH 2
Things to say
Nashville SC beat New York City FC 2-1 at GEODIS Park.
01
opener
Nashville got the job done at home, 2-1 over NYCFC. Felt like Nashville wanted it more from the jump. NYC had their chances but couldn't punish them.
02
key player
Hany Mukhtar was everywhere — four shots, kept making things happen in the final third. Guy's the engine, full stop.
03
hot take
NYCFC are 5-4-6 and it shows. Too many draws, not enough killers in the box.
04
deep cut
Thiago Martins put up 98 accurate passes from the back for NYC — dude was basically running the build-up by himself.
05
exit
Nashville's 10-3-1 now, they're for real this year. Curious what they look like on the road next.
The recap
Nashville took this one 2-1 at GEODIS Park, and honestly NYCFC never quite found the answer. Hany Mukhtar was the live wire up top with four shots, kept poking until something fell their way, while Brian Schwake came up with three saves to lock the door late.
New York pushed — Nico Fernández had five looks of his own — but Matthew Freese's four saves in the other net tell you they spent the night chasing. Nashville's now 10-3-1 and looking every bit a top-of-the-table side.
