Baltimore OriolesvsAthletics
BAL 4/ATH 3
Things to say
The Orioles beat the Athletics 4-3 in 10 innings on the road.
01
opener
Man, this one went the distance. Orioles grind it out in extras, 4-3 in ten. Tight all night, one swing decided it.
02
key player
The heart of the O's order carried them late. Went deep in the box, worked the count, and came up huge with the go-ahead knock in the tenth.
03
hot take
Athletics manager left his starter in a batter too long. Guy went seven strong but you gotta go to the pen before the lineup turns over a third time.
04
deep cut
That ghost runner on second in the tenth is the whole ballgame now. Baltimore played the extra-innings rules right, A's didn't. Small ball wins it.
05
exit
O's are hanging around at 66-69, gotta keep it rolling. Curious what they do next series.
The recap
Baltimore stole one out west, grinding out a 4-3 win in ten innings on a getaway day in Sacramento. This was a coin-flip all night, knotted up late and pushed to free baseball, where the Orioles finally scratched across the go-ahead run.
The bullpen slammed the door in the bottom of the tenth to lock it down. The Athletics had their chances but couldn't cash in when it mattered.
