Baltimore OriolesvsTampa Bay Rays
BAL 6/TB 7
Things to say
The Rays edged the Orioles 7-6 at Tropicana Field.
01
opener
Rays took it 7-6, came down to the wire. One of those one-run games where you're sweating every pitch. Tampa just keeps finding ways.
02
key player
The heart of the Rays order carried them again. Somebody in that lineup left the yard when it mattered and the rest just fed off it.
03
hot take
Honestly the Orioles should've had this. You put up six on the road and still lose, that's on the bullpen. Somebody went to the pen too early.
04
deep cut
Nobody's talking about it but that middle-innings stretch was the whole game. You could feel the momentum flip right there.
05
exit
Rays are 75-49 now, they're the real deal. Anyway, curious what they do in the next one.
The recap
The Rays edged the Orioles 7-6 in a back-and-forth at the Trop that came down to the final at-bat. Baltimore hung around all night, but Tampa Bay's bats kept answering and the heart of the order did the damage when it mattered.
The Orioles bullpen couldn't slam the door late, and the Rays walked off with a one-run win. At 75-49, Tampa Bay keeps rolling while Baltimore drops to 61-64 and stays stuck under water.
