The recap
Wrigley turned into a slugfest and the Cubs came out on top, 9-7 over the Padres. Neither starter had much—both got knocked around early and the scoreboard kept climbing on both sides.
Chicago's bats did enough damage to stay ahead, and the bullpen slammed the door before San Diego could complete the comeback. A messy one, but the Cubs bank the win and move to 48-38.
