The recap
Dodgers edged the Padres 4-3 at Chavez Ravine in a one-run nailbiter that stayed tight to the last out. With no leaders or scoring detail on the ticket, this was clearly a grind-it-out game decided by an inning or two rather than anybody leaving the yard all night.
LA improved to 58-31 and kept its stranglehold on the division, while San Diego slipped back to .500 at 43-44. Bottom line for the watercooler: the boys in blue took care of business at home and the Padres let a winnable one get away.
