Philadelphia PhilliesvsSeattle Mariners
PHI 1/SEA 4
Things to say
The Mariners beat the Phillies 4-1 at T-Mobile Park.
01
opener
Mariners took it 4-1 at home. Pitching carried the whole night. Seattle just kept Philly's bats quiet start to finish.
02
key player
Seattle's starter was the story — got into his stuff early and gave the bullpen a short night. One run on him, that's a getaway-day gem.
03
hot take
Honestly a 73-60 Phillies club scoring one run in Seattle is a bad look. The heart of the order went missing.
04
deep cut
Nobody left the yard — this was a small-ball, T-Mobile-Park kind of win. That marine layer eats fly balls alive.
05
exit
Anyway, Philly's still sitting pretty in their division. I want to see if they wake up tomorrow.
The recap
Seattle handled its business at home, knocking off the Phillies 4-1 in a tidy little getaway-day win. Philly's bats never got going against Mariners pitching, scratching across just a single run all night while the M's staff kept the heart of the order quiet.
Seattle did enough damage early and let the bullpen slam the door from there. A rare feel-good night for a Mariners club scrapping just to stay in the mix at 64-69.
