Pittsburgh PiratesvsAtlanta Braves
PIT 3/ATL 6
Things to say
Atlanta beat Pittsburgh 6-3 at Truist Park.
01
opener
Braves took care of the Pirates 6-3 last night. Atlanta's bats showed up early and Pittsburgh just couldn't claw back. Truist was rocking.
02
key player
The heart of the order did the damage for Atlanta — they're 43-21 for a reason, that lineup is brutal one through five.
03
hot take
Honestly the Pirates hung around longer than they had any right to. 34-30 is cute but they're not scaring anybody in October.
04
deep cut
Feels like Pittsburgh's manager went to the pen too early again. Once that bullpen door opens against Atlanta, it's over.
05
exit
Anyway, Braves keep rolling. Curious to see what they do in the next series.
The recap
Braves took care of business at Truist, 6-3 over the Pirates on a getaway day where Atlanta's bats finally got into Pittsburgh's stuff in the middle innings. The heart of the order did the damage — once the Pirates' starter labored through the lineup a second time, the manager went to the pen a touch too early and the Braves made him pay.
Pittsburgh hung around, but Atlanta's bullpen slammed the door and pushed the Braves to 43-21. Pirates drop to 34-30 and head home stinging.
