Pittsburgh PiratesvsLos Angeles Dodgers
PIT 3/LAD 4
Things to say
The Dodgers edged the Pirates 4-3 at Dodger Stadium to stay hot in the standings.
01
opener
Yeah, Dodgers grabbed it 4-3. One-run game the whole way, PIT hung around but couldn't get the big hit late. LA just does enough to win these.
02
key player
The heart of that Dodgers order carried them again. You leave one over the plate to those guys and it leaves the yard.
03
hot take
Honestly the Pirates are better than that 63-68 record. They played the best team in the West to a one-run finish on the road.
04
deep cut
The bullpen's the story. LA handed it off and slammed the door, didn't let Pittsburgh sniff a walk-off. That's a playoff team's pen.
05
exit
Anyway, it's a getaway day next — we'll see if the Pirates can steal one before they head out.
The recap
Dodgers edged the Pirates 4-3 at Chavez Ravine in one of those tight one-run games that keeps you honest all night. Pittsburgh hung around and made LA sweat, trading zeros with the heart of the order and refusing to go quietly.
But the home crowd got their moment late, and the Dodgers scratched across just enough to move to 79-51. Pirates drop another close one and slip under .500 at 63-68, the kind of getaway-day loss that stings because they were right there.
