Pittsburgh PiratesvsLos Angeles Dodgers
PIT 0/LAD 4
Things to say
The Dodgers shut out the Pirates 4-0 at Dodger Stadium.
01
opener
Dodgers took care of the Pirates 4-0. Clean shutout at home. Pittsburgh just never got anything going against the heart of that LA staff.
02
key player
Whoever LA ran out there was filthy — Pittsburgh's bats looked completely fooled all night. Nobody got into their stuff.
03
hot take
Four runs shouldn't be enough to feel safe, but with the way that bullpen locked it down, it was never close.
04
deep cut
Pirates got shut out cold — a big fat zero on the board. When the top of your order goes quiet, it's a long night.
05
exit
Pittsburgh's fading down the stretch at 63-69. Anyway, curious if they can steal one before this series wraps.
The recap
Dodgers handled the Pirates 4-0 in a tidy afternoon at Dodger Stadium, and this one was all about the arms. LA's staff blanked Pittsburgh across nine, scattering nothing that mattered and never letting the heart of the order get comfortable.
Four runs was more than enough cushion, and the bullpen slammed the door to lock up the shutout. Pittsburgh just never got anything going against a pitching staff that had all its stuff working.
