Los Angeles RamsvsLos Angeles Chargers

LAR 20/LAC 18

NFL NetSoFi Stadium
Things to say

The Rams beat the Chargers 20-18 at SoFi to move to 3-0.

01
opener
Rams took it 20-18, came down to the wire. Chargers had a shot to tie late but the defense held. Rams are 3-0 now and just look like the more complete team.
02
key player
Greg Desrosiers Jr. was the one bright spot for the Chargers — 118 yards on nine carries and a score. Dude was averaging like 13 a pop and nobody could get a hand on him.
03
hot take
Chargers scored 18 and it still felt like they couldn't move the ball. Live by the big play, die by it — you can't just wait on 65-yard bombs and hope.
04
deep cut
Ty Simpson quietly went 18-of-23 for the Rams. No fireworks, just kept the chains moving and never put the defense in a bad spot. That's the game right there.
05
exit
Anyway, undefeated Rams — we'll see if that holds when the schedule gets real. Should be a fun one next week.
The recap

The Rams walked into SoFi and left 3-0, holding on 20-18 in a game that felt like everybody emptied the depth chart. Matthew Caldwell's 8-yard strike to Dean Connors early in the fourth pushed it to 20-10 and turned out to be the difference.

The Chargers clawed back on Greg Desrosiers Jr., who ran wild for 118 and a score and punched in a two-point conversion to make it a one-possession game, but they couldn't get the stop or the ball back when it counted. Darryl Peterson III got home twice off the edge, and that pass rush is what bailed the Rams out down the stretch.
