Texas RangersvsAthletics
TEX 3/ATH 8
Things to say
The Athletics beat the Texas Rangers 8-3 at Sutter Health Park.
01
opener
A's took it 8-3, wasn't even that close by the end. Texas hung around early, then the bats just went quiet. Getaway day, you know how it goes.
02
key player
The A's lineup did the damage top to bottom. Somebody left the yard and the heart of the order kept the line moving all night.
03
hot take
Rangers manager went to the pen way too early. Your starter's cruising, you let him finish the inning. That's where they lost it.
04
deep cut
Texas starter's WHIP was fine on paper, but he never really got into his stuff. Too many free passes, and Oakland made him pay.
05
exit
Anyway, Rangers still got the better record. We'll see if they bounce back next series.
The recap
The Athletics jumped on Texas early and never looked back, cruising to an 8-3 win at Sutter Health Park. This was a getaway-day clunker for the Rangers, who couldn't get anything going against the heart of the order and watched a modest deficit balloon once the bats came alive.
Oakland's lineup did the heavy lifting, stringing together enough traffic on the bases to bury a Texas club that's now slipped under .500. Not a marquee matchup, but the last-place A's played spoiler and sent the Rangers home stinging.
