Houston turned a getaway-day slugfest into a survival test, outlasting Tampa Bay 10-8 in a game where neither pen wanted the ball. The Astros jumped on the Rays early and kept answering every time TB clawed back, because on this night nobody's arms could shut a door.
The heart of the Houston order left the yard enough to build a cushion, and they needed all of it as the Rays kept the tying run breathing into the ninth. Ugly, loud, and exactly the kind of win a 44-47 club takes any day it can get one against a first-place team.
