Tampa Bay RaysvsSeattle Mariners
TB 4/SEA 1
Things to say
The Rays beat the Mariners 4-1 at T-Mobile Park to move to 71-46.
01
opener
Rays took it 4-1 in Seattle, quiet little getaway-day win. Tampa's arms just kept the M's off balance all night. One-run offense doesn't beat that.
02
key player
Whoever Tampa ran out there got into his stuff early and gave 'em length. One run through the meat of the order in that park is a real outing.
03
hot take
Say what you want, this Rays team is quietly one of the best in the league at 71-46 and nobody's talking about them.
04
deep cut
Seattle scoring exactly one run tells you the bats went cold against the bullpen late. Heart of the order never got going.
05
exit
M's need to flip the script tomorrow or this series gets away from 'em. Anyway, we'll see if the bats wake up.
The recap
The Rays rolled into Seattle and walked out with a 4-1 win, and honestly it never felt that close. Their staff kept the Mariners' bats quiet all night, holding them to a single run while the offense scratched across just enough to breathe easy.
Seattle couldn't get anything going against the heart of the order stuff coming at them, and the one run they managed was too little, too late. Tampa's now sitting pretty at 71-46 while the M's drop to 56-63 and keep spinning their wheels.
