Tampa Bay RaysvsTexas Rangers
TB 0/TEX 6
Things to say
Texas shut out Tampa Bay 6-0 at Globe Life Field.
01
opener
Rangers took it 6-0, clean shutout. Rays never really threatened. Kind of a snoozer if you're a Tampa fan.
02
key player
Whoever the Rangers ran out there was filthy, got into his stuff early and the Rays hitters looked lost against it.
03
hot take
Tampa's an 83-win team getting blanked by a sub-.500 club. That heart of the order is going ice cold at the wrong time.
04
deep cut
Six-zip and the Texas pen barely got touched. Getaway-day bullpen day and they still cruised, that tells you the starter went deep.
05
exit
Rays better shake this off quick, they've got a playoff spot to protect. Anyway, curious who they throw tomorrow.
The recap
The Rangers slammed the door on the AL's hottest team, blanking Tampa Bay 6-0 at Globe Life. Texas got a start that went deep and kept the heart of the Rays order off the bases all night, and the offense did its damage early enough that the bullpen never had to sweat it.
Six runs and a shutout against an 83-win club is the kind of getaway-day whitewash nobody saw coming. The Rays leave town with a goose egg and some questions about a bat that went quiet.
