Things to say

Red Bull New York beat Sporting Kansas City 2-1 at Children's Mercy Park.

01
Red Bulls went into Kansas City and grabbed it 2-1. Horvath basically stole the points in goal. SKC threw the kitchen sink and got nothing for it.
02
key player
Ethan Horvath was the story — seven saves and kept RBNY in it when Kansas City was all over them.
03
hot take
Sporting Kansas City sit on nine draws already. That's not bad luck anymore, that's a team that can't close.
04
deep cut
Lasse Berg Johnsen put up 70 accurate passes for SKC — they owned the ball and still couldn't break Horvath down.
05
exit
Red Bulls climb the table, Sporting keep treading water. Curious what they look like next weekend.
The recap

Red Bull New York went into Children's Mercy Park and walked out with a 2-1 win, and honestly it was Ethan Horvath who carried them — seven saves between the sticks, an absolute wall on a night Sporting threw everything at him. Kansas City actually had the run of play, with Calvin Harris peppering the goal and Lasse Berg Johnsen pulling strings in midfield, but they just could not beat Horvath when it mattered.

Jorge Ruvalcaba was the live wire up top for New York, matching Harris shot-for-shot and giving the away side enough cutting edge to nick it. Sporting drop to 3-2-9 and the wheels are wobbling; Red Bull keep climbing at 6-4-5.
