Boston Red SoxvsNew York Yankees
BOS 6/NYY 0
Things to say
Boston beat the Yankees 6-0 in the Bronx to shave a game off the division gap.
01
opener
Sox went into Yankee Stadium and hung a six-spot on them. Pitching carried it though. That was a full shutout on the road, which never gets old in the Bronx.
02
key player
Boston's arms were the story. The staff kept the Yankee bats off the board all afternoon and never let the heart of the order breathe.
03
hot take
Yankees getting shut out at home in a division race? That lineup's got no pulse right now. Six-nothing isn't bad luck, that's a flat team.
04
deep cut
It was a getaway day matinee too, so half the crowd's already thinking about beating traffic. Easy building to steal a game in when the vibe's like that.
05
exit
Anyway, these two see each other again soon. Ask me after the Yankees actually put a run on the board.
The recap
Red Sox rolled into the Bronx and hung a 6-spot on the Yankees while never letting them cross the plate — a clean 6-0 shutout on the road. The Boston arms carried this one, keeping New York's heart of the order quiet all afternoon and never really getting into trouble.
Six runs of support is more than enough when your pitching is slamming the door like that. Ugly loss for a Yankee club that couldn't scratch across a single run at home.
