Boston Red SoxvsNew York Yankees
BOS 2/NYY 9
Things to say
The Yankees beat the Red Sox 9-2 at Yankee Stadium.
01
opener
Yankees ran away with it, 9-2. Bombers put a crooked number up early and Boston never really answered. Kind of over by the middle innings.
02
key player
The heart of the order did all the damage — a couple of guys left the yard and the RBIs just piled up. That lineup one through five is brutal right now.
03
hot take
Honestly the Sox starter looked cooked from the jump. Never got into his stuff, and the manager left him out there way too long.
04
deep cut
Watch the Yankees' bullpen WHIP lately — they've barely walked anybody. That's the quiet reason they keep closing these out clean.
05
exit
Anyway, it's a big series in the Bronx — I want to see if Boston can steal one before they leave town.
The recap
The Yankees took this one to the woodshed, hanging nine on the Red Sox in the Bronx for a comfortable 9-2 win. Boston never got into it — their starter couldn't find the strike zone early and the heart of the Yankee order made him pay, then the bullpen just kept the door shut the rest of the way.
This was over well before the late innings, one of those getaway-day beatings where you check the score once and don't bother looking back. New York moves to 77-59 and puts a little more daylight between themselves and their rivals.
