Cincinnati RedsvsArizona Diamondbacks
CIN 3/ARI 5
Things to say
The Diamondbacks beat the Reds 5-3 at Chase Field on Saturday night.
01
opener
Snakes took it 5-3 at home. Reds hung around but Arizona just had a little more late. Solid Peacock game if you caught it.
02
key player
Arizona's heart of the order carried it — you could tell their bats got into their stuff by the middle innings and Cincy never had an answer.
03
hot take
Reds are gonna keep spinning their wheels at 62-69 until they stop leaning on that bullpen so early. That's a fixable loss.
04
deep cut
Getaway-day feel to it — Arizona quietly playing decent ball to sneak back over .500 at 69-62 and nobody's talking about it.
05
exit
Anyway, Reds need to steal one before they leave the desert or this road trip's a wash. We'll see.
The recap
Arizona took care of business at home, holding off Cincinnati 5-3 to inch back toward .500. The Diamondbacks put up enough early, then leaned on the bullpen to slam the door once the Reds started clawing back into it.
Cincinnati's three runs just weren't enough to keep pace, and every rally seemed to stall right when the heart of the order came up. Getaway-day baseball at Chase Field, and Arizona sends the Reds home with the loss.
