Colorado RockiesvsSt. Louis Cardinals
COL 4/STL 7
Things to say
The Cardinals beat the Rockies 7-4 at Busch Stadium.
01
opener
Cards took care of business at home, 7-4 over Colorado. Never really felt in doubt once St. Louis got the bats going. Rockies just don't have the arms to keep up on the road.
02
key player
The heart of the Cardinals order did all the damage. When they're stacking hits like that through the middle, seven runs is almost the floor.
03
hot take
Honestly the score flatters Colorado. This one was over before the seventh.
04
deep cut
Watch the bullpen bridge though. That's the spot where St. Louis has been shaky all year, and they got through it clean today.
05
exit
Anyway, Rockies are buried at 46-72. I'll be curious if the Cards can keep it rolling in the next one.
The recap
Cardinals took care of business at Busch and put the Rockies away 7-4 on a getaway-day afternoon. Colorado hung around early, but St.
Louis pulled ahead and never gave the lead back, letting the bullpen close the door once they had the cushion. It's the kind of tidy home win that gets a scuffling .500 club back to even.
For a Rockies team buried at 46-72, it was more of the same road misery.
