Colorado RockiesvsArizona Diamondbacks

COL 3/ARI 2

MLB.TVChase Field
Things to say

The Colorado Rockies beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 3-2 at Chase Field.

01
opener
Rockies took it 3-2 down in the desert. Tight one the whole way, came down to the last couple innings. Classic one-run game.
02
key player
Colorado's arms were the story — the staff kept the D-backs to two runs at Chase, which is not a place where that usually happens.
03
hot take
Say what you want about Colorado's record, but a 47-73 club going into Arizona and stealing a one-run game says the Diamondbacks left runs on the table.
04
deep cut
Two runs in a hitter's park like Chase? Somebody in that Rockies pen really got into his stuff late.
05
exit
Anyway, D-backs need to bounce back — I'm curious if they get it going the rest of this series.
The recap

The lowly Rockies snuck into Chase Field and stole one from the Diamondbacks, 3-2, in a tight little pitcher's duel where every run mattered. Colorado, buried at 47-73, played way above their record and made those two Arizona runs stand up as not enough.

This was one of those games decided on the margins, where a single swing or a well-placed hit tipped it, and the D-backs' bats just went quiet when it counted. Rough one for Arizona to drop at home to a last-place club still hanging around .500 in wins on the road.
