Colorado RockiesvsSan Francisco Giants
COL 5/SF 2
Things to say
The Rockies beat the Giants 5-2 at Oracle Park.
01
opener
Rockies went into Oracle and stole one, 5-2. Two teams going nowhere, but Colorado's bats actually showed up. Giants offense was asleep all night.
02
key player
Colorado's lineup did the damage early and never gave it back. Heart of the order finally strung some hits together for once.
03
hot take
Two runs at home? The Giants' season is over, they just haven't admitted it yet.
04
deep cut
Getaway-day energy, and it showed. Giants left runners all over the yard and the pen couldn't stop the bleeding.
05
exit
Anyway, both these teams are playing for draft position now. Let's see if San Fran even bothers to show up tomorrow.
The recap
The Rockies went into Oracle Park and stole one, hanging a 5-2 final on the Giants on a getaway day. Colorado's bats did just enough against San Francisco's staff, and every time the Giants tried to climb back in it, the answer came right back.
Two runs won't cut it when your lineup keeps stranding guys, and that's the story here. Rockies grab the road win and send the Giants home stewing.
