Colorado RockiesvsWashington Nationals
COL 13/WSH 1
Things to say
The Colorado Rockies blew out the Washington Nationals 13-1 at Nationals Park.
01
opener
Man, the Rockies just teed off. Thirteen runs in D.C. It was over by the middle innings.
02
key player
The whole heart of the order was locked in. Colorado had guys leaving the yard and stacking hits all night.
03
hot take
Washington's pitching is cooked. When you give up thirteen at home, that's not bad luck, that's a staff problem.
04
deep cut
Wild part is the Rockies did this on the road. They can't hit at altitude on purpose but they mash in someone else's yard.
05
exit
Anyway, both of these teams are playing out the string. I'm just watching who's chasing October.
The recap
Colorado went into Washington and turned a getaway day into batting practice, hanging a 13-1 laugher on the Nationals. This was a wire-to-wire mugging where the road bats never let up and the Rockies' starter cruised while his lineup did the heavy lifting.
When you drop 13 on the board, the manager's just trying to burn low-leverage arms and get everybody home. Ugly night for the Nats, but the Rockies will happily take this one on the road.
