Kansas City RoyalsvsLos Angeles Dodgers
KC 4/LAD 5
Things to say
The Dodgers beat the Royals 5-4 in 10 innings on a walk-off at Dodger Stadium.
01
opener
Dodgers took it 5-4, but they had to go extras to do it. Royals hung around all night. Walk-off in the tenth, place went nuts.
02
key player
The heart of that LA order kept them alive — the middle of the lineup did the damage when it mattered. That's who you want up in a tie game.
03
hot take
Honestly the Royals outplayed them for eight innings. Dodgers are 72-48 but they've been sloppy in close ones lately.
04
deep cut
The tell was the bullpen. Once it got to the pen it was a coin flip, and KC nearly stole it before that walk-off.
05
exit
Anyway, KC's basically playing spoiler at 49-72 now — I'm more curious what LA does down the stretch. Catch the next one?
The recap
The Dodgers walked it off in the tenth to edge the Royals 5-4 on a getaway day at Chavez Ravine. Kansas City hung tough all night against a heart of the order that kept threatening, and it stayed knotted deep into extras.
Once it went to the pen and the game spilled past nine, LA finally pushed the winning run across in the bottom of the tenth. Nice bounce-back for a first-place club, and a tough one to swallow for a Royals team that's now 23 games under .500.
