Kansas City RoyalsvsCleveland Guardians
KC 3/CLE 0
Things to say
The Royals shut out the Guardians 3-0 on the road at Progressive Field.
01
opener
Royals took it 3-0 in Cleveland. Textbook getaway-day baseball. KC's arms just never let the Guardians breathe.
02
key player
The Royals' starter was the story. Got into his stuff early, worked deep, and handed a lead to the pen with nothing to sweat.
03
hot take
Three runs shouldn't be enough to win a big-league game, but when you throw a shutout it plays like ten. Cleveland's bats are asleep.
04
deep cut
Guardians got blanked at home while sitting a game over .500. That's the kind of no-show that quietly kills a September.
05
exit
Anyway, KC's scrappy right now. Curious if they can carry it into the next series.
The recap
Royals stole one on the road in Cleveland, riding a 3-0 shutout that never felt in doubt once they scratched across a few. Kansas City's staff was the whole story here — whoever got the ball for them got into his stuff early and kept the Guardians' bats quiet all afternoon, and the bullpen slammed the door to preserve the goose egg.
Cleveland just couldn't string anything together, stranding traffic and never solving that arm. On a getaway day, KC takes it and heads out of town feeling good.
