Mets took care of business on a getaway day at Citi Field, jumping the Royals early and never really looking back in a 7-3 win. New York's bats did the heavy lifting through the heart of the order, and once they built the cushion the bullpen just had to keep it tidy.
Kansas City hung around but could never string enough together to make it a game, and the middle innings were where this one got away. Solid, unglamorous baseball from a Mets club that needed it.
