Kansas City RoyalsvsMinnesota Twins
KC 6/MIN 5
Things to say
Royals beat the Twins 6-5 at Target Field.
01
opener
Royals snuck out of Minnesota 6-5. One-run game the whole way. KC needed that one bad.
02
key player
Whoever was hitting in the heart of the order for KC finally showed up — that lineup's been dead all month.
03
hot take
Twins manager went to the pen way too early again. You've got a starter cruising, let him finish the inning.
04
deep cut
Minnesota's now 30-37 at home in a park that's supposed to be a pitcher's park. That's not a slump, that's the roster.
05
exit
Anyway, we'll see if KC can actually string two together — they've been allergic to it. Catch the next one?
The recap
Royals snuck out of Target Field with a 6-5 win, and credit them for grinding it out on a getaway day against a Twins squad that's been scuffling. Without a scoring summary to point at, this had the shape of a back-and-forth where Kansas City's bats kept answering — you don't put up six in Minnesota by accident.
Minnesota's bullpen feels like the obvious culprit; when a sub-.500 club drops a one-run game at home, somebody left a pitch over the plate at the wrong time. Royals needed this one badly at 27-39, and they'll take a win however it comes.
