Chicago SkyvsConnecticut Sun
CHI 81/CON 87
Things to say
The Connecticut Sun beat the Chicago Sky 87-81 at Mohegan Sun Arena.
01
opener
Sun took it 87-81 at home. Bottom-of-the-standings tilt but it had some juice. Connecticut just wanted it more down the stretch.
02
key player
Aaliyah Edwards was a problem. 26 and 10, living in the paint all night.
03
hot take
Cardoso dropped 24 and 13 and still took the L. When your big goes for a double-double and you lose, that's on the guards.
04
deep cut
Vandersloot quietly ran the show with 9 dimes. Sloot still cooking, but her team couldn't buy a bucket when it mattered.
05
exit
Both these squads are playing out the string, but Edwards is buckets — I'll be watching what she does next.
The recap
Last-place Connecticut played spoiler and knocked off Chicago 87-81, and Aaliyah Edwards was the whole reason why. She went for 26 and 10 and just ate them up in the paint all night, carrying the Sun's frontcourt on both ends.
Kamilla Cardoso answered with a 24-and-13 double-double and Vandersloot dished nine dimes, but Chicago couldn't get the buckets when it mattered down the stretch. Sky took the L to a team 12 games under them in the standings, and that one's gonna sting.
