Seattle StormvsPortland Fire
SEA 93/POR 100
Things to say
Portland Fire beat the Seattle Storm 100-93 at the Moda Center.
01
opener
Portland got the win, 100-93. Fire looked like the better team down the stretch. Storm just couldn't get stops when it mattered.
02
key player
Bridget Carleton went for 24 and carried them. She was getting buckets all night.
03
hot take
Seattle's at 6-28 for a reason. That defense is nowhere close, and losing to Portland proves it.
04
deep cut
Rookie Dominique Malonga grabbed 9 boards for Seattle. She's a bright spot on a rough season.
05
exit
Portland's finally figuring it out. Curious to see if they can string a couple of these together.
The recap
Portland took care of business at home, holding off Seattle 100-93 to snap out of the doldrums. Bridget Carleton was the engine all night, dropping 24 and getting buckets whenever the Fire needed a steadying hand.
Jade Melbourne kept the Storm within striking distance with 23 of her own, but Seattle just couldn't get enough to fall to keep pace down the stretch. Portland's balance did the rest, and the Storm took another L to drop to 6-28.
