Detroit TigersvsCleveland Guardians
DET 6/CLE 0
Things to say
The Detroit Tigers shut out the Cleveland Guardians 6-0 at Progressive Field.
01
opener
Tigers went into Cleveland and hung a six-spot on 'em. Guardians got shut out at home, didn't cross the plate all night. Not the way you want to head into the weekend.
02
key player
Whoever Detroit ran out on the bump was dealing — a full shutout on the road tells you the arm was in his stuff all night.
03
hot take
Cleveland's a game over .500 and getting blanked at home by a sub-.500 club. That offense has flat-out gone quiet.
04
deep cut
Six-nothing means the Tigers' pen didn't even get tested — they just handed it off and cruised. Getaway-day baseball.
05
exit
Anyway, Cleveland better wake up the bats quick — this race isn't waiting for 'em.
The recap
Detroit went into Progressive Field and slammed the door, blanking Cleveland 6-0 on a getaway day. Whoever the Tigers ran out there got into his stuff early and never let the Guardians' bats breathe — Cleveland couldn't push a single run across.
The offense did just enough damage against Cleveland's arms to make it comfortable, and once it was a multi-run lead the bullpen closed it clean. Rough night for the home crowd, but a tidy road shutout for the Tigers.
