Toronto FCvsInter Miami CF
TOR 2/MIA 1
Things to say
Toronto FC beat Inter Miami 2-1 on the road at Nu Stadium.
01
opener
Toronto went into Miami and stole one, 2-1. Nobody saw that coming. Last-place club walking out with three points.
02
key player
Gavran was the story in goal for Toronto. Two saves don't sound like much, but he came up big when Miami threw everything at them late.
03
hot take
Miami had all the ball and only three shots from their striker. All that possession, zero killer instinct. Style over substance again.
04
deep cut
Look at Ian Fray with 13 defensive interventions and it still wasn't enough. Their back line was chasing shadows all night.
05
exit
Miami's still comfortable in the standings, but that's a bad look. Curious to see how they respond next weekend.
The recap
Big upset down in Miami as basement-dwelling Toronto walked into Nu Stadium and nicked all three points, 2-1. Miami peppered the goal but couldn't finish, with Berterame leading the shots and precious little to show for it.
Toronto keeper Luka Gavran stood tall when it mattered and the visitors made their chances count. For a side sitting near the bottom of the table, going into Messi's house and coming out with a win is about as good as their season gets.
