Towson TigersvsNavy Midshipmen
TOW 15/NAVY 42
Things to say
Navy beat Towson 42-15 at home to open the season 1-0.
01
opener
Navy just ran it down Towson's throat, 42-15. Classic triple-option smashmouth stuff. Once they got rolling on the ground it was never close.
02
key player
Braxton Woodson was a problem. 200 yards and three scores on the ground, and he barely had to throw it. Dude's a cheat code in that offense.
03
hot take
Honestly Towson's defense had no answer for the line of scrimmage. You can't stop that option if you can't set the edge, and they never did.
04
deep cut
Woodson only threw six passes all game. Six. And Navy still hung 42 because they owned time of possession and just kept the chains moving.
05
exit
Anyway, 1-0 to start. We'll see if it holds up once they hit somebody with a pulse on the schedule.
The recap
Navy ground it out old-school, and Braxton Woodson was the hammer — 200 yards and three scores on the ground, because who needs to throw when you're gashing folks for 42. Towson hung around early behind Andrew Indorf slinging it for a couple touchdowns, but the Mids just kept feeding the run and wore them down in the trenches.
The turning point was Woodson's 8-yard punch-in late in the half that made it a two-score game, and from there the Midshipmen pulled away for good. Towson could throw it but couldn't run a lick, and that's a losing recipe against a smashmouth triple-option outfit.
