Minnesota TwinsvsAthletics
MIN 9/ATH 6
Things to say
The Twins beat the Athletics 9-6 at Sutter Health Park.
01
opener
Twins took it 9-6 out in Sacramento. Bats were live all night. Once Minnesota got into the A's pen it was pretty much over.
02
key player
The heart of that Twins order just kept the line moving. Nine runs doesn't happen by accident, somebody in the middle left the yard.
03
hot take
Honestly the A's manager went to the pen too early and it cost him. You leave 51-81 on the mound and this is what you get.
04
deep cut
Playing in a minor league park in Sacramento, and it plays small, ball flies. Six-nine final tells you nobody's arms were fooling anybody.
05
exit
Twins are back over the hump chasing .500, so we'll see if they carry it into the next series.
The recap
The Twins went into Sacramento and put up a nine-spot to take this one 9-6, staying alive in what's turning into a scrappy second half for a team hanging around .500. The bats carried it here — Minnesota kept stacking runs and never let the Athletics claw all the way back, even with the A's pushing six across.
It had the feel of a getaway-day slugfest where whoever blinked last won, and the Twins had the deeper answer at the plate. Nothing pretty about it, but nine runs on the road plays in any yard.
