MIN 4/ATH 7
Things to say
The Athletics beat the Minnesota Twins 7-4 at Sutter Health Park.
01
opener
A's took it 7-4 over the Twins. Home crowd got their money's worth. Minnesota just couldn't string enough together late.
02
key player
The heart of the A's order did the damage—couple of guys left the yard and that was the ballgame.
03
hot take
Twins are supposed to be the better club and they let a 53-81 team push them around. That's a bad loss.
04
deep cut
Minnesota's pen got touched up in the middle innings—manager went to it a hair early and it cost them.
05
exit
Anyway, Twins better bounce back tomorrow or this getaway day leaves a mark.
The recap
The A's took this one 7-4 at Sutter Health Park, playing spoiler against a Twins club that came in with the better record and just couldn't get the bats going. Minnesota scratched across four but never really threatened the heart of the order when it mattered, and Oakland's lineup did the damage early and made it stick.
Nobody's confusing this A's team with a contender at 53-81, but on a getaway day they left the yard just enough to send the Twins home flat. Clean win, and the bullpen slammed the door to lock it up.
