Minnesota TwinsvsCleveland Guardians
MIN 3/CLE 1
Things to say
The Minnesota Twins beat the Cleveland Guardians 3-1 in 12 innings at Progressive Field.
01
opener
Man, that one was a grind. Twins and Guardians went twelve, and it sat 1-1 forever. Minnesota finally broke it open late and won 3-1.
02
key player
The Twins' starter was filthy early, really got into his stuff and kept the heart of the order off balance. Low WHIP night, pitcher's duel all the way.
03
hot take
Cleveland's offense is a problem. One run through twelve at home? That lineup can't keep leaning on the bullpen to bail them out.
04
deep cut
Nobody left the yard all night. In extras it came down to small ball and a fresh arm out of the pen, not the long ball.
05
exit
Anyway, it's a getaway day dogfight in the Central. I'll be watching to see if Cleveland's bats wake up next series.
The recap
This one was a grind — 1-1 through nine and both bullpens slamming the door until the Twins finally cracked it open in the 12th. Minnesota pushed across a pair in extras to steal it 3-1 on a getaway day in Cleveland.
The arms carried this thing all afternoon; nobody was leaving the yard against that kind of pitching. Guardians hang another one at Progressive Field and drop back below .500's shadow, while the Twins claw a game closer to even.
