Minnesota TwinsvsBoston Red Sox
MIN 4/BOS 2
Things to say
Twins beat the Red Sox 4-2 at Fenway on Saturday night.
01
opener
Twins took it 4-2 at Fenway. Minnesota just looked sharper top to bottom. Boston's bats went quiet again — that's basically their season.
02
key player
Their starter got into his stuff early and the Sox never squared anything up. Dude was painting the corners all night.
03
hot take
Red Sox at 22-29 is not a slump anymore, that's who they are. Time to start talking deadline sellers.
04
deep cut
Cora went to the pen in the sixth with a guy who'd thrown two days in a row. That's the at-bat that flipped the game.
05
exit
Anyway — getaway day tomorrow, we'll see if Boston can salvage one before the Twins fly home.
The recap
Twins took this one 4-2 at Fenway, and it felt like Minnesota just had Boston's number all night. Without the box score in front of me I can't tell you exactly who left the yard, but a two-run cushion on the road at Fenway means somebody in the heart of the order came through and the bullpen didn't blow it late.
Red Sox sit at 22-29 now, which is not where anyone in that clubhouse wanted to be heading into Memorial Day weekend. Twins climb back toward .500 — quietly stacking road wins.
