Minnesota TwinsvsBoston Red Sox
MIN 6/BOS 5
Things to say
Twins edged the Red Sox 6-5 at Fenway on Sunday.
01
opener
Twins took it 6-5 at Fenway. Tight one all the way, Boston had the tying run on in the ninth and couldn't bring him home. Getaway day game, you could tell both pens were gassed.
02
key player
Buxton was a menace at the top of the order — guy's been quietly carrying that lineup all month.
03
hot take
Cora went to the pen way too early again. Starter had life and he yanked him, and the bullpen handed it right back.
04
deep cut
Twins are 26-27 now — first time they've sniffed .500 since April. Quiet little run going there.
05
exit
Anyway, we'll see if Boston can stop the bleeding next series — they've been ice cold at home.
The recap
Twins snuck out of Fenway with a 6-5 win, and honestly Boston had no business losing this one at home. Minnesota kept chipping, kept fouling off tough pitches, and the bullpen finally cracked late after the starter had given them a real chance.
Red Sox manager went to the pen a hair too early and you could feel the dugout deflate when that lead slipped. Twins climb back to 26-27, Boston drops to 22-30, and Fenway emptied out quiet.
