Minnesota TwinsvsChicago White Sox
MIN 5/CHW 3
Things to say
Twins beat the White Sox 5-3 in 11 innings at Rate Field.
01
opener
Twins-Sox went to extras last night. Minnesota tacked on two in the eleventh and stole one on the road, 5-3. Rate Field crowd was not happy.
02
key player
Whoever Minnesota ran out of the pen in the tenth straight up shoved — bent but didn't break with the ghost runner on second.
03
hot take
Sox manager went to the pen way too early. You let your starter go seven there, you probably win in nine.
04
deep cut
Twins are 27-28 and still hanging around .500 — that's a team nobody wants to see in August.
05
exit
Anyway, getaway day today, see if Chicago can salvage one before the Twins fly out.
The recap
Twins stole one on the South Side, 5-3 in eleven. Score was knotted late, both bullpens trading zeros, until Minnesota finally got into somebody's stuff in the eleventh and pushed a couple across to break it open.
White Sox had chances but couldn't cash in with the heart of the order, and the pen ran out of arms right when they needed a stop. Long night at Rate Field, and the Twins fly home above .500 in the loss column for a hot second.
