Things to say

UNLV beat Hawai'i 21-6 on the road.

01
opener
UNLV went into Honolulu and just ran it down their throats. Hawai'i never found the end zone, all six points came off field goals. Kind of an ugly one to watch.
02
key player
Jai'Den Thomas was the whole offense — 20 carries, 143 yards and a 50-yard touchdown to seal it. Dude was a problem all night.
03
hot take
Jackson Arnold threw for 116 and it didn't matter one bit. When you can run it like that, who needs the pass?
04
deep cut
Micah Alejado went 17-of-41 with a pick for Hawai'i. Forty-one throws and they still couldn't move the ball — that's a couldn't-buy-a-yard kind of night.
05
exit
Hawai'i's 0-2 and it's not getting easier. We'll see if they can figure out the offense next week.
The recap

UNLV went smashmouth and it worked — Jai'Den Thomas ran for 143 yards and put the game away with a 50-yard house call in the second half. Hawai'i just couldn't move the ball, settling for two Sean Olvera-Harle field goals while Micah Alejado slogged through a 17-of-41 night with a pick.

Jackson Arnold didn't need to throw much, punching in two short scores himself and letting the ground game do the heavy lifting. Six points at home says it all — the Rainbow Warriors are 0-2 and stuck in the mud.
