Chicago White SoxvsSan Francisco Giants
CHW 5/SF 8
Things to say
Giants beat the White Sox 8-5 at Oracle Park on Sunday.
01
opener
Giants took care of business at home, 8-5 over the White Sox. Felt like Chicago hung around longer than they should have, but San Fran finally put it away.
02
key player
The heart of the Giants order did the damage — you could tell early they were sitting on fastballs and not missing.
03
hot take
White Sox are 26-26 and still feel like a .500 team that's gonna fade. That bullpen can't keep this up.
04
deep cut
Oracle Park played small today — that's not a yard where you usually see eight runs without the wind helping out.
05
exit
Anyway, getaway day for Chicago — curious if they can steal one before the road trip's over.
The recap
Giants got out the brooms at Oracle and knocked off the White Sox 8-5 on a Sunday getaway day. Chicago's starter couldn't find his stuff, and once the manager went to the pen too early, the heart of the order made him pay — somebody left the yard and SF never looked back.
The Pale Hose bullpen kept bleeding runs while the Giants tacked on, and a late push to make it 8-5 was too little, too late. Nice little series-clincher for San Francisco, who needed it sitting at 22-31.
